Throughout many years in our spiritual path, Chris and I both explored many different powerful systems that emerged from shamanism, Daoism, Hinduism, Gnosticism, and the list goes on. By following our guidance, we’ve met truly extraordinary teachers and have been initiated into different lineages. And it all has been life changing. So many beautiful transformations and consciousness upgrades have occurred thanks to different teachings. But also, many systems did not feel complete or sometimes even unsafe.
We could notice the gaps in them as many of them were just pieces of a bigger puzzle, of something that was complete before it was divided into parts and lost as often is the case in the western world.
So we learned, practiced, experienced and we moved on from many of them. But Kriya Yoga is one of the systems that stayed with us for a long time. It is certainly one of the most powerful methods that we trust and can share with confidence. These practices can lead us to very deep and elevated states of consciousness – similar to what sacred plant medicine (such as Ayahuasca or San Pedro) can offer, but done completely naturally with no external substance. And in turn – it allows for very profound and most importantly, sustainable shifts in our consciousness and in our daily lives. However, it only gives as much as you can handle and allows enough of space for integration to not overload the nervous system. That’s one of the things I love the most about it. It is a time-tested safe system.
After all, it still works with the most powerful energy on the planet – Kundalini.

Kriya Yoga is an ancient technique consisting of meditation, energy, and breath control (Pranayama). Ancient yogis discovered that they could move life energy current up and down the spine, accelerating spiritual evolution and healing the mind & body.
This life energy is known as ‘Prana’. It is a universal energy that flows through energy channels known as nadis or meridians. Kriya Yoga technique slows down the heart, lungs, and nervous system naturally so that inner stillness can be achieved and the energy can flow up through the spine. In this state, we reach heightened states of consciousness and bliss, also referred to as Samadhi.
Once kept very secret, Kriya Yoga became more popular around 1920 when Paramahamsa Yogananda, a great Kriya Yogi, brought these teachings to the West. Yogananda went on to write the famous book, ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’, which further popularized the Kriya Yoga technique.
The system consists of a number of different sitting meditations combined with spinal breathing techniques. These techniques are intended to rapidly accelerate spiritual development and engender a profound state of tranquility and bliss.
It might be hard to imagine a popular high-tech business icon being submerged in Yogic literature, but yes, this was the most important book in his life. So important that when he planned his own funeral memorial service, he made sure that everyone would receive his last gift – a little brown box with this very book on Self-Realization… This is the last message that he wanted to pass on to humanity – actualize yourself. Become the best version of yourself.
Paramahamsa Yogananda’s teachings not only allowed Steve Jobs to develop a deep personal connection with the divine, but also to realize his full potential as a human being and build a trillion dollar company that revolutionized the world of technology.
And he’s not the only one who was inspired by authentic spiritual teachings of this lineage. George Harrison, the lead guitarist from the Beatles, was too, devoted to Yogananda’s Kriya Yoga teachings and spent time at SRF retreats (Self-Realization Fellowship founded by Yogananda).
After experiencing an abundance of money and fame, he started to search for a deeper meaning of life which lead him to Hindu Mysticism, his first trip to India and Yogananda’s teachings. After experimenting with many different drugs in the 60’s and dealing with wrecking depression, meditation became a salvation that allowed him and his fellow Beatles to experience those heightened states of consciousness and joy in a simple natural way.
That’s where his creativity sky-rocketed and he released multiple songs, some of which were dedicated to Yogananda, like “Dear One”. Yogananda’s teachings inspired George so much that he kept multiple copies of “Autobiography of a Yogi” to give away to anyone who might have felt depressed or suicidal. That was the power of such teachings, according to him.
This spiritual transformation had a major influence not only on the Beatles, as they too, got inspired to heal from depression and quit drugs, but on the whole Western culture too.
Many other famous people were influenced by Yogananda’s teachings and Kriya Yoga Meditation.
